This is a book that I almost did
not publish. As a Wal-Mart supplier, I feel a need to share my Wal- Mart
journey with everyone. I had the idea to write this book in March 2006,
given all the hell that broke loose with Wal-Mart. There were so many
distractions, discouraging comments and events. Every person I told
about the book or read the manuscript has serious reservations and
concern for my well being.
 I think Caucasians buy
African foods because they are curious by nature. African food purchases
are perceived as adventures. One that they return to many times, for
they had discovered an exciting taste.

African food is not
as foreign as people think. Majority of U.S. Southern cuisine and
Soul Food originated from Africa. Similar ingredients, just prepared
differently. Have you ever eaten chocolate? If yes, you’ve eaten
African food. The cocoa that is used in your favorite chocolate comes
from Ivory Coast and Nigeria. How about the tea leaves that goes into
Lipton and other teas? If it is not green tea, it comes from Kenya,
Cameroun and other African countries. How often are you in Starbucks
getting the latte? Starbucks gets coffee in at least five African
countries.
